Planning Your Christmas Party

Are you in charge of hosting Christmas dinner or a Christmas party this year? Since a lot of families kept it small last year or skipped Christmas festivities all together due to world events, you may need a quick refresher on how to throw a wonderful Christmas party. Even if you don't need a refresher, I may give you some tips and ideas you may not have thought about. Here are some ways to make your Christmas party the best this ever!

Choose a Theme

It's your party and you can do what you want to! Choose a theme for your Christmas party. It could be a Christmas movie marathon, a Christmas cooking party, an arts and crafts party, or even game night! Branch out with a theme you haven't tried before, or keep it simple and standard. Either way works and everyone will have a great time no matter what.

Food and Drinks

No party is complete without great food and drinks! Be different and stay away from traditional appetizers. Try to wow your guests with something they have never seen before. You can have the food displayed or really shock people and have the food passed on platters.

As for drinks, consider serving some Christmas themed cocktails for the adults. There's a million different recipes online, but I find anything based around peppermint or eggnog seems to be a hit! Don't forget to have water and soda on hand for those that choose not to have an alcoholic beverage or are underage. On cold days it's always nice to have coffee, hot cocoa, or hot apple cider as an option as well. With options like these, you're sure to make all of your guests happy!

Music

Music is more important than you may think! It keeps the party moving and it can keep energy high. I would recommend either making or finding a more upbeat Christmas music playlist. I think "Silent Night" is a great song, but It doesn't fit a party. Be sure to exclude slower, more mellow songs from your playlist to keep your party from dragging a bit. You can always mix in the old classics with newer more modern favorites.

Decorations 

You want to make your guest feel like they are walking into a winter wonderland when they arrive at your party. This starts outside when they arrive at your home and continues into every room.
