What is the Best Christmas Song?

Once the stores and radio start playing Christmas music, you know it's time to get into the Christmas spirit. With so many different songs and new ones coming out every year, there are just so many amazing Christmas songs. When it comes down to it though, what are the BEST Christmas songs of all time? I will give you my personal top 5 Christmas songs and why.

5. Carol of the Bells - Lindsey Stirling

This version of Carol of the Bells prominently features a beautiful violin. This song is intense for a Christmas song which is part of the reason I enjoy it so much. It really stands out from all other Christmas songs. Although it may not seem as joyous as other songs, it really makes my ears perk up every time I hear it and really holds my attention.

4. Happy Xmas - John Lennon & Yoko Ono

This now classic Christmas song released in 1971 always brings a warm fuzzy feeling during the holidays. Written by John Lennon outside of his work with The Beatles, this song also features the Harlem Community Choir. When you hear the choir in the song, it really gives the sense of togetherness that is so important during the Christmas season. While this song has many great covers and renditions, there is nothing like this original version.

3. White Christmas- Elvis Presley

Although the Bing Crosby version of White Christmas may be more popular, I prefer the Elvis Presley version. I think this song was perfect for Elvis. It matches his voice so perfectly. When I listen to this song it actually puts me into a dream-like state of hoping for a White Christmas. Everyone hopes to have snow on Christmas because it makes the holiday much more cozy and festive. However, depending on where you live it may not even be a possibility. That's where this song comes in to give you a taste of what a White Christmas is like.

2. All I Want for Christmas is You - Mariah Carey

This is probably one of the most played songs over the holidays, and deservedly so! This Christmas classic is upbeat and high energy. Listening to this song automatically gets you excited for the holiday! The lyrics get the point across that presents aren't what's really important on Christmas, it's being with loved ones. This fantastic message paired with some unbelievable vocals from Mariah are why it takes my number 2 spot.

1. Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee

My favorite Christmas song of all time has to be Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee. There are just so many great things in this song. Brenda's instantly recognizable vocals pull you in while you just can't get enough of the electric guitar. It all leads up to the impressive saxophone solo! You can't help but smile while listening to this song while Brenda sings about all things Christmas and what makes it fun and special.

Conclusion

There are so many great Christmas songs that it was extremely hard to pick a top 5. I think Christmas songs and carols are one of the top things that make Christmas actually feel like Christmas, no matter where you live. Once these amazing festive songs hit your ears, you're sure to rock right into the holiday spirit.
